Ruskin School of Art Prize

Lara who is in Year 3, has been awarded the Ruskin School of Art prize for 2018 which is given at the Young Art Oxford Exhibition. The Ruskin award is given to a child in Year 3 or 4 who has shown the most vivid imagination in their art. Lara’s picture, which is of a ship hitting an iceberg, was displayed at the Ashmolean museum.

Young Art Oxford is an annual art exhibition open to all Oxfordshire schools with children from any year between Reception to Year 9. It is a wonderful opportunity for young aspiring artists to have their work judged by well known professionals and artists and to exhibit at the prestigious Ashmolean Museum.  Each year the children have a different theme on which to base their art with this year’s theme being ‘Journeys’.

This year Chandlings entered 125 artworks from which 23 were chosen to be displayed at the Ashmolean.  Along with Lara, Jack Veal and Millie Maskrey both in Year 6 also stood out, having their artwork highly commended.

Congratulations to Lara and all the other children whose work was chosen to be displayed.
