Chandlings' Annual Cross Country 2019
What an afternoon, perfect conditions for Cross Country, a light breeze cold conditions but relatively solid underfoot. A wonderful day for the Annual Chandlings Cross Country event which hosted over 600 pupils from 23 different schools across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
Mr Brodley’s start times were punctual and the afternoon ran like clockwork. Stand out team performances were our Under 8 Girls, Under 10 and 11 Boys whose team totals were 88, 75 and 81 respectively. Individual special mention to Dominic C. and Martha P. coming 2nd and 4th respectively but all pupils ran well and worked hard in their races.
Approximately 600 runners with race sizes ranging from 70-115 made for a busy afternoon! A lot of work goes into organising a day like this and huge thanks must go to the staff who marshalled, handed out race numbers, indicated race positions, provided refreshments and first aid. Particular thanks go to Mr Maskrey for his help with traffic solutions (11 coaches to park!) and Mr Graham for his techno whizz spreadsheet without which results, the old fashioned way, would have taken much longer.
Well done to all the runners and thank you to all the schools for participating in a great afternoon!
