PSHEE and Assemblies

PSHEE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education) helps our children develop the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to manage many of the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities faced as they grow into adulthood.

Our programme aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team working and critical thinking in the context of learning. It is grouped into three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships, and living in the wider world (including economic wellbeing.)

This programme enables our children to recognise, accept and shape their identities, to understand and accommodate difference and change, to manage emotions, and to communicate constructively in different settings.

Circle Time is shared within form groups and allows valuable interaction between the children. These sessions are an opportunity for the form teacher to promote and reinforce positive behaviour, self awareness and self confidence. Developing an understanding of themselves, empathy and the ability to work with others will help our children form and maintain good relationships and better enjoy and manage their lives.

Assemblies are a highlight of our school week and bring everyone together. Each form prepares and delivers an assembly throughout the course of the year, with the theme often linked to their current PSHEE topic. We have several different assemblies including Feel Good Friday, WOW assembly, Class Pairs, Form assembly and a Pastoral Assembly led by the Head of Pastoral, which is another important opportunity to discuss the world around us and some of the challenges we all might face.
