Chandlings Prep alumni came together on Friday 20 June to celebrate Chris Cook’s retirement. It was a wonderful event with a turnout of over 150 guests all eager to give her the send off that she deserves.
The front terrace was filled with flowers, bunting and artwork from over the years. The sound of cheerful chatter of familiar faces past and present, all gathered together for one last time to honour Chris’ remarkable years of service.
Alison Derham kicked off the speeches with an emotional trip down memory lane, followed by the CEO Tom Beardmore-Gray who talked fondly of his time working with Chris. Next up was alumni Jacob Yolland who talked affectionately about his time as a pupil and how Chandlings shaped him into the man that he is today. Last up was Chris herself who gave an emotional speech about her time as Head and was clearly moved to see all of her past colleagues, pupils and parents.
It was a fitting send off for someone who will leave a lasting legacy at the heart of the School.
